A Review of Ted R. Weiland's Bible Sermons

Is Christ Superior to Paul?

By John Hurt

My Bible studies have led me to fully believe and try to obey the consequences of the following verses:

Christ said in John 13:16

John 13:(16) Verily, verily, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor an apostle greater than he who sent him;

I believe that Christ is superior to any of his 12 Apostles, including the 13th Apostle, which is Paul.

In the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19-20, Christ instructed us to only teach His words, not the words of the Apostles, James, or Paul. Christ said in Matthew 28:

Matthew 28:(19) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

(20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I believe that Christ told us to teach only what He has commanded us. He never authorized us to teach Paul or the writings of any other man.

YHWH also holds this same viewpoint and stated it in Deuteronomy 18:18-19. Speaking of Christ in Acts 3, Peter quotes the words of YHVH in Deuteronomy 18:18-19 that we must listen to Christ as Supreme:

Acts 3:(22) For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

(23) And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

We have to hear Christ first in all things, and observe what Christ has commanded and not the doctrines of other men, or we will be "destroyed."

Christ clearly told us that He should be our only teacher and not other men. Christ said in Matthew 23:

Matthew 23:8 But don't you be called 'Rabbi,' for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.

Matthew 23:10 Neither be called instructors, for one is your instructor, the Christ.

No other man, including Ted Weiland, should be teaching us or instructing us. Only Christ should be our sole teacher.

In Matthew 15, Christ quoted Isaiah 23:13 to warn us of the consequences of teaching the commandments of men: that following the commandments of men will make our worship of YHVH in vain.

Christ said:

Matthew 15:(8) This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

(9) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Our religion is vain when we teach the doctrines of men and ignore the Doctrines of Christ.

If you listen in church, they usually teach the doctrines of men like Paul and not Christ. Take a pen and paper and write down how many times they quote Christ in a sermon at your church. If they quote Christ at all, they will quote Paul 13 times for every time they quote Christ.

I am now trying “my best” to follow the commandments of Christ, above Paul and all other writings in the Bible. Holding the Words of Christ as Supreme is a totally different religion than what you find in church.
