A Review of Ted R. Weiland's Bible Sermons

How Ted Weiland Destroyed the Reputations of Three Families

By John Hurt

Christ said in Matthew 18:15-17 that we need to meet in private with someone first before we bring any "trespass" out in public.

(15) Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

(16) But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

(17) And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

All of us may have been guilty of this error at some point, but when you deliberately break this commandment repeatedly to benefit your own ego, that is another issue entirely.

Several of my close friends and their families were humiliated by Ted Weiland because Ted attacked them first "in public" from his pulpit and did not initially meet with them in private.

From what I have seen, Ted Weiland never follows the 3 step process in Matthew 18:15-17. Ted attacks you in public before you even know there is a problem.

And there is no way you can respond to whatever Ted says, as Ted has his "pulpit," and you don't.

Here Is What Happened to One Christian Family.

One of my friends that I have known for around 15 years was very talented musically and wrote all of his own songs.

He and his family performed at many of Ted's functions. For many years, they were good friends with Ted Weiland.

This man was also a talented speaker and was beginning to set up his own ministry. I believe Ted became jealous and did not want to lose any of his own followers to a new teacher.

So Ted Weiland told everyone to avoid this family because of "miscegenation" as the man's wife supposedly had "Cuban ancestry." That is the most ridiculous and "un-Christian" thing I have ever heard of in my life. Who is Ted Weiland to judge someone else's ancestors?

It would be equivalent to saying to Ted Weiland and to all of the people in Nebraska that...

Since your ancestors all came from an area that was clearly "Indian Country,"

And since it is well known that at least some of the people in Nebraska intermarried with the Native Americans,

Then you need to be disfellowshipped because, "as a Nebraskan," you obviously share in this tainted "Nebraskan Ancestry."

Do you see how ridiculous a statement like that is? Can you understand how saying something like that can hurt someone?

Perhaps Ted needs to quit looking at the mote in someone else's eye and consider the log in his own eye.

And always remember, if Ted can attack this family for some ridiculous reason, he can do the same to you. And be aware that Ted does not really need a reason to destroy you; he just does it.

What Happened to Two Other Christian Families.

The first of these two families was a loving Christian father and mother with three children that have been my friends here in Tennessee for over 30 years, yet they were blasted from the pulpit by Ted Weiland.

And what was their "crime"? Ted attacked them from his pulpit because they took in a young lady who had been thrown out of her father's home. Their "crime," according to Ted, was that they provided food, clothes, and shelter to a young girl with no place to go.

For this act of kindness, Ted Weiland destroyed their reputations with a SIX PART AUDIO SERMON that Ted called "Misplaced Chivalry."

Ted's Six Part "Misplaced Chivalry" audio lessons also destroyed the reputation of another family from Wisconsin that I knew distantly for doing the same thing, the "crime" of taking the homeless girl's sister into their home.

Yet Christ commands that if someone is a stranger with no place to go, we have to take them in.

I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (Matthew 25:35)

Ted Weiland needs to be ashamed of himself. If there was a problem, he should have met with these families in private first.

And there was a meeting - an open and public meeting - with many men present about how to provide a place for these two girls. Of course, Ted wasn't at this meeting, but he inserted himself into this situation "after the fact."

The result of this public meeting is that two sincere and dedicated Christian families stepped up and offered to bring these two girls into their homes and to feed and clothe them.

I know personally that the girls' father came to Tennessee and met with one of the families, with his own daughter sitting in the next room, and told the family that he did not want his daughters back. But you never heard that from Ted Weiland.

To get to the truth of what happened, both sides should have been able to speak to everyone about this, not just Ted from his pulpit. Nobody should have been "discredited" by Ted Weiland for doing the right thing and doing what Christ commanded us to do.

For Christ said that He will judge all of us if we don't take in the stranger and provide for the needs of others:

Matthew 25:(41) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

(42) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

(43) I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

(44) Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

(45) Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

(46) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Why did Ted Weiland not want anyone to provide a place for these two girls? What is wrong with Ted Weiland?

Or maybe there is something wrong with "us," and it is not "Ted" that is the problem.

Idolizing a Man and Not Christ Is the "Real" Problem.

These three families had idolized Ted Weiland, which was a mistake. Many people have given Ted Weiland too much authority over the lives of other people.

And these three families, for their faith and loyalty to Ted, he never took the time to even meet with them in private first, as Christ commanded.

If Ted had met with them in private, the issues could have been resolved, but probably not the way Ted wanted.

I believe that is why Ted always attacks you from his pulpit first, without warning. Ted "has to win" every time he interacts with someone.

Two of these families have been my good friends for many years, and it really hurt to see how devastated they were by Ted's online attacks. Now they want nothing to do with anyone associated with Ted Weiland.

One of these two families has moved out of state and cut ties with everyone.

That is why no one ever needs to support Ted Weiland. Instead, we need to warn others about him.

We need to pray for Ted Weiland that he does not use his ministry to attack those who listen to him.

For Ted not only "shears his own sheep" financially, he also "eats his own sheep" by destroying their reputations from his pulpit.

And Ted Weiland destroyed these people for no good reason! He just did it.

I think it is some sort of "power" thing.

We should never give someone like Ted Weiland a position of authority over other Christians. No one should be allowed to act this way.

Christ said no one should ever make someone a "ruler" over another person in Christ's kingdom or grant them authority over others.

Christ said there is to be no one greater than anyone else in His Kingdom:

Luke 22:(24) And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

(25) And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

(26) But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

(27) For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

And that is the real problem here: we have put men like Ted Weiland in positions of authority that Christ has prohibited. It is really "our fault" for giving Ted this authority.

And it is only through this position of "perceived authority" that Ted Weiland has been able to destroy other people. Ted Weiland should only be a servant, just like everyone else, just like Christ.

Christ tells us that Ted Weiland does not have the authority to "exercise lordship" over anyone. I would think this is especially true since Ted can't seem to handle himself either.

If you have been attacked by Ted Weiland, contact me, and I will try to help you. If you want me to post something here, I will.

If there are errors with what I have stated on this website, then I would be glad to hear what you have to say.

If you want to know more about my "error," according to Ted Weiland, of holding Christ as Supreme above Paul and all others, you can read my letters I wrote to Ted in private:

Letter 1 - April 26th, 2023
Letter 2 - May 5th, 2023
Letter 3 - May 19th, 2023
Letter 4 - June 5th, 2023
Letter 5 - June 21st, 2023
Letter 6 - June 24th, 2023
Letter 7 - August 3rd, 2023

Yes, I got publicly blasted by Ted Weiland from his pulpit for sending him these private letters in the mail. That is my "crime."

People need to be aware of Ted Weiland's behavior and not put their trust in him. Like my friends, one day you may regret ever listening to Ted Weiland.
