Does an Online Minister - without a Church - Really Deserve Your Donations?

My father, John Hurt, was a very prominent "Church of Christ" minister. In 1980, he organized the "Clean Up TV" Campaign, and he was featured in Time Magazine, and appeared on the Phil Donohue and Charlie Rose shows.

He spent his entire life as a Minister, yet never took payment. Whatever funds the church gave him for preaching, he would put back into the collection plate.

He worked full time as a school teacher, ran a small publishing company, and paid all of our family's bills without taking money for preaching God's Word. So it is very possible and practical that an online ministry, without the overhead of a church building or charity work, could operate without funding from anyone.

These men who ask you for a tithe for their ministry, so that they do not have to work a job, are disgusting. As Ezekiel 22 states, they take money, they destroy reputations, they make no difference between the holy and the profane, or the clean and the unclean, and they ignore the Sabbath day, which profanes God. They twist the scriptures to say that God speaks whatever they wish, when God has not spoken.

Ezekiel 22: (25) There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

(26) Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

(27) Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

(28) And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.

(29) The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

(30) And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

Please "stand in the gap" with God and withhold your donations to anyone who opposes God's Laws, as you will be held accountable for what they do.

God does not want us to give to a ministry that does not support the poor. No one should be allowed to spend your hard-earned donations on their personal wants, so they won't have to work a job like you do.
